With an aim to gather the creatives, Know Your Scoopie is a monthly introductory series where Scoopoint introduces their members; encouraging them to get personal about themselves, and stay connected within the community.
This month, Scoopoint introduces the founder of e-commerce agency, Webbey: Jin Sheng.
Hey Jin Sheng, tell us about yourself!
Hey guys, I’m Jin Sheng! I’m a proud Penangite who’s currently twenty-five years old. I started my e-commerce agency, Webbey in 2017. It provides our client with opportunities to grow their business online. As funny as it may seem, long before I dabbled into the e-commerce industry, I was studying as a civil engineer. However, as time went by, I slowly came to realize that being an engineer wasn’t the path I was looking for. It was until after graduation when I began my journey in discovering the true path I wanted to head.
I started Webbey by helping clients to design websites. My friend Beng Tian, who’s more experienced, as he’s been in the web development industry longer than I have, was generous enough to guide me at the very beginning. We eventually ended up as partners for Webbey and began to grow our business together through online marketing. It wasn’t easy at first, but through a self-paced step-by-step process, we managed to figure out the best solution to market our business in many ways we could. As a current digital specialist, I focus fully on digital marketing, especially Facebook Ads and overall funnel/strategy for businesses. Of course, the journey in discovering what I wanted to do wasn’t easy it all. I went through my shares of ups and downs but I love what I do and that is all that matters.
If you could use three words to describe yourself, what would it be?
Persistent – I believe, when it comes to achieving your goals, it’s always important to stay persistent. No matter if you may fail the first round or the second; if you keep fighting through the challenges, you’d be able to make it through the end. If you see it more of a trial and error, you’d not only learn from mistakes along the way, but you’ll be able to prepare yourself for another war.
Optimistic – To me, it’s extremely important to be optimistic. I always try my hardest to stay on the greener side of things and to channel good vibes to those surrounding me. Giving out good energy doesn’t cost much; it’ll not only allow you to live a much easier life, but it’ll give a good influence to those who are around you.
Disciplined – I find myself to be rather disciplined with my work. In order to be successful and to put out a good first impression, it’s important for me to get my things done before the due date. Even so, I rarely allow distractions to get the best of me. I suppose it makes me determined to be better every day.
Who’s your favourite superhero and why?
I’d love to possess the abilities Dr. Strange has; especially when it comes to time manipulation and time travel. If I was given the opportunity, I’d want more time to do things I’ve always wanted to do. To do more things and to get things done too. I’d also like to manipulate time and travel back in order to gain more experience in the things I may lack.
What is your theme song, and why?
Hakuna Matata from The Lion King is my theme song. I find being optimistic a good energy to practice. It allows me to worry less and to live a much carefree life. As mentioned above, I too think it’s important to stay optimistic for the future and to be constantly grateful for what I have.
So, why Scoopoint?
I particularly like the environment, ambience and platform Scoopoint has created for creative entrepreneurs. Through the community, people can find it easy to gather talents for their own creative startups; my agency included. Not to mention, from surrounding myself with the good vibes it provides, it allows me to generate new inspiration and strategy. I too made a lot of friends and connections from Scoopoint.
